EPA Compliance

All services provided by Serene Sea Burials, LLC are filed in accordance with the general permit set forth by the EPA under Marine Protection, Research and Sanctuaries Act (MPRSA) within 30 days of service. We are a conservation focused company and ensure no harmful components are used in our ceremonies.

Overview of the EPA

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) champions the protection of the environment, focusing on clean air, land, and water. It establishes regulations to reduce pollution and promote sustainable practices.

The EPA shapes how sea burials adhere to environmental protection standards, ensuring these practices respect marine ecosystems. Sea burial EPA compliance includes specific regulations and guidelines designed to minimize environmental impact.

From using biodegradable materials to acquiring permits, the EPA ensures that sea burials follow sustainable practices. At Serene Sea Burials, we take sea burial compliance seriously; that’s why we’re transparent about our processes.

What We Do

  • Only biodegradable components such as natural wreaths and flowers are used in our services. Anything non-biodegradable is removed and disposed of properly.
  • Coordinates, depth of water and sink rate are recorded during service.
